It varies. It could be a few hours or 48 hours and an emergency C-section. Being induced actually increases your risk of having to have an emergency c-section.

It is safe for you to go up to two weeks past your due date. Try to avoid inducement at all costs. It is really hard on you and baby and a lot of times ends up in a c section. try to be patient and let nature take its course, you don't want to add all those chemicals to your body and then go through a csection after a rough induced labor. Inducement is one of the main reasons for so many c sections (which by the way is really hard to recover from!!)
Also, an induced labor can be very painful.

First of all, it is your body, your baby, if you want to be induced go for it, it just gets more miserable from here. I had three inducements, they were not scheduled. The first i was over 2 wks. The second one i kept having false labor, and i think i was getting on the DR's nerves!!! The third one i had dialated to 3 so he just put me in. When you are scheduled ( or this is my routine all times) He scheduled me on a convient day for him, i think it was a day that he has scheduled to induce. I just went in about 6:30 and got hooked up to all the stuff and they started it.
Good Luck

They let you go 2 weeks late, my induction went very well. Do not be scarred. If you're easy going about it, then you may not need an emergency C-section. Everyone is different. AS I said, my induction went very smoothly and I actually liked it because I didn't have to worry about leaking water when it broke or even getting frustrated- I knew exactly what should be happening during my labor because it was induced. I wish the best!!

I'm not sure exactly how long it will take with a scheduled one. I went to my dr.'s app. which was 3 days after my due date, and he just decided then that it was time to be induced. He told me to take my time, get my things together, and go to the hospital. I just went and filled out the paperwork that was needed and they took me to my room. It didn't take me long at all to get in- if that's what you are talking about. And it also didn't take long for my contractions to start and so forth. Good luck with the new baby.

I have had two successful inductions. With my first son they started petosin at 7 in the morning and I gave birth at 7 at night, but did not begin labor until 3pm. With my second they brok my water around 8am. I began labor around 1:00pm and had him at 2:30pm. I was 37 weeks with the first and 39 with the second. Good luck, hope this helps.

I am confused by your question. If your doctor said you are being induced then it depends on the hospital of when. No more then a week or so.

I was induced with both my kids. I was induced at 12:30pm with my son and had him at 6:45am. With my daughter at 10:00am and had her at 10:00pm.

i was induced with my 1st pregnancy and i hate to say it but it wasn't much fun! i went in at 12pm wasn't able to eat anything at all, then the doc put me on patocin (sp) to bring on contractions, took a while after...and to make a lone story short.....my son wasn't born until 2:27am!!!! natural labor is much easier and faster, with my 2nd pregnancy, i went in and had my daughter in 3 hrs......good luck....

fight to not get induced, hard on you and baby!
most hospitals will let you go up to 2 weeks late, everyone's gestation is different.
