At 39 weeks, your baby is physically ready to be born (size wise) -- so if your blood pressure is too high, your doctor will probably induce labor. This happened with me with both my pregnancies, and my doctors always opted to err on the side of caution.

Before your next appointment, lie on your left side as much as possible, and keep your feet up to prevent excessive swelling. Drink lots of water and try to limit salty foods. If you have access to a blood pressure monitor, keep track of your b/p readings for your doctor. (Like I said -- been there, done that!)

Don't be afraid of being induced. It may take a little longer, if the baby isn't yet entering the birth canal, but it should be fine.

Best wishes -- and good luck with the little one. Get some sleep while you still can!

It is very possible that if your labor is still high when you go back you will be induced. So you better get ready! Congratulations on your baby!

no thats not true but im surprised that with you being 2cm and haveing high blood pressure that he didnt admit you into the hospital.do you feel well enough to be home now?i would be a little concerned if i were u.having high blood pressure puts stress on your unborn child. so if i were you id call him back a let him know that you are concerned and being more concerned is no better for your blood pressure.good luck with your new little one and enjoy.

Yes. I was induced because my blood pressure was high. I was at risk for preclampsia.
