Honestly, I wouldn't necessarily trust the stereotypes that many of the previous answers have given. It depends on what market of women you are trying to sell your product or service to. Once you define that, maybe some of these stereotypes will apply, but you should do some research on your target market first. A target female audience for sneakers is probably going to have to be marketed differently to than a target female audience for makeup. It all depends on your product or service and the target audience. Do some research to be specific and not general.

If I am not mistaken, women are also inhabitants of planet earth. Men can be drivers, amiable, analytical or expressive, the same applies to women. When it comes o marketing, it all comes back to basic rules: customer insights, unmet needs, customer end benefits...etc.

The only case in which you can tailor a strategy to women is when you are selling business proposals or small business projects to women who are going to run these projects. In that case you can group the women needs for a specific business environment in which they can operate and put that as a shared need between members of this sex.

1. Don't be insulting
2. Don't jerk me around by my emotions (ala lifetime for women)
3. Do be inclusive, but not so it is "down my throat"
4. Do rember a bunch of household are led by women, Not just the "single mother" ones either.
5. Don't ignore traditional values, I'm not held back, I returned to them.
6. I can be a girlie girl and a geek/jock/hard A.$$

Depends on what you want to market...
A good tip is not to tell that much about the product, but more about all the benefits it will bring to us.

Best advice -- choose words carefully, and leave their "men" out of it...I have an attorney friend who saw a "name withheld-Mart" commercial in which a female narrator said "A great place to spend your husband's money" Yeah, she didn't find that funny...she was on the computer in a flash, as were her female attorney friends, and well....that commercial did not live long. You can pull the inadequacy card and we will bite....just be careful how you say it. You can get much more advice if you give us specifics....good luck!

As a woman, I would really love to see something advertised that makes us feel good. Like pretty colors and showing how much better your product will make us look or feel. Really, it all depends on what your selling. Woman love stuff cheap and functional.

women, generally speaking, want to look and feel sexy. Any marketing techniques should capitalize on that. Also, they like to be comfortable..... Anything that will make them look and feel sexy and still be comfortable....
