I don't know if it's changed my perception, but it's a book that I've read many times in different stages of life and found it to entertain me in new ways....if that makes any sense! And I find that the main character and I think in the same nutty manor.
And that book is "The Catcher in the Rye".

i would say the koran.
this was in stark contrast to the existing order of judeo/christianity with a 4000 yr history. the koran encouraged military subjigation, called war (particularly conversions) holy, enslaved 1/2 their population, set forth a very distinct and consistant set of laws, dietary constraints, and lifestyles.
look at what the west has to deal with today.
never before has one religion/mind set had such an impact on 2 other religions to the extent that the koran has today.

Honestly I can't pin point just one book because I feel that many books have helped to shape me in many ways and show me different points of view on life.

1984 by George Orwel
one of my favourite books, the way that future is being portrayed in this novel amazes me because eventhough it was written 1949 (I think) is not very far from what's going to happen and what's happening nowdays in my country.
