First realize that a cold is something that will literally wipe you out physically. Its a virus so there isn't much that will work medicine wise. Try putting mentholatim (sp) on your chest (vicks vapor rub) and sip hot/warm lemon water. If your tummy is upset try to nibble on saltine crackers and take it easy. If you hurt all over take ibuprofen and soak in a hot bath--if your congested runny hot water or a vaporizer might help. Cough medicines for nighttime is a great way to get some sleep at night (just don't take too much) There is something in chicken noodle soup that helps with the cold virus, make a cup of that, if you don't have that and you have boullion try that.

Stay away from anything heavy and if your coughing or congested stay away from milk products as well. Its normal for you to have a sore throat and a mild fever as well. A cold can last anywhere from 5-14 days and getting plenty of rest and liquids is key. Do not force yourself to eat, just stay hydrated and if your symptoms get worse see your doctor.

Feed a cold and starve a fever, or is it the other way around? I doubt that it would help either way! It sounds as if you have a sinus problem. If you will breath steam it will help open the nasal
cavaties and let them drain. I have terrible sinus problems and none of the medications work, so I do the steam thing. Good luck.

An italian trick:
boil some red wine and drink it hot. Just a glass will do.
