I think so...the same way you can feel pride about your culture. My husband is Puerto Rican...and after that whole rape thing happened @ the Puerto Rican Day parade a few years back, he was really ashamed to say that he was a member of that culture. I think it all depends on the person.

Lots of people are "ambivalent" about their cultures. But that's what makes the world interesting.
People need to get out and try new things. Be open to other cultures, people and ideas. People are interesting. Everyone loves, laughs, hurts and bleeds the same way despite our visible differences.
But cherish the good things that come from your past as well.

It happens. Sometimes the outside world can have an effect on that. Sometimes people do it to become attached to certain social groups. Or they dont want to be Type-cast. I even know a black guy from high schoo who didnt do certain things (such as Eat Watermelon, Say certain words, hang around certain people) so the popular whites kids would invite him to parties.
