I would say the World War (Parts 1 and 2) were the worst tragedy in world history. I don't consider them separate conflicts. The Great War didn't resolve anything, and the 20 years from 1919 to 1939 just allowed everything to fester and get even worse. The 1914 - 1918 war brought the world strategic bombing of civilians, the u-Boat terror, machine guns and rapid-fire artillery and land mines and poison gas and tanks.....and slaughter on an unimaginable scale. The 1939 - 1945 war enhanced those capabilities, and added such wonders as ballistic missiles and atomic weapons. And, of course, the Holocaust, my candidate for the greatest crime in human history.
The attacks on September 211, 2001 were tragic.
But they cannot be compared with the war(s) of the first half of the 20th Century.

instead of the normal 9/11 only because it happened directly to us, so of course we think it is; but what about hitler brain washing all of the germans and doing what they did, or even what about what is going on in the holy land, with women willing to blow up their innocent 6 month old baby's so that they can't fake out the security into thinking the chemicals for a bomb was actually baby formula. yes, 9/11 was a tragedy, but so are other things in other countries.
