A bunch of girls in my school ages 11 & 12 are getting their noses and belly buttons pierced, not if I want it or anything. I think their parents would be crazy to let their kids do that. (and no offense to people who have them or anything, I think they look tacky.)

Letting a 12 year old get her belly button pierced is too sexual of a thing for someone so young. It is tacky and their parents should be ashamed.

nostril piercing perfectly accetable, i wouldn't do it till their 16 but there is no reason not to. if they're sluts they're still going to be sluts w/o the jewelry so why does that matter? do you realise that in other cultures piercings are a right of passage and a mark of beauty? The navel piercing is unnacceptable, the body is going to grow and change shape during these years so much that the piercing will probably reject or be in a rather odd position by the time her body has finished growing. You also have no right to judge their parents, granted MOST parents arent responsible enough when it comes to these circumstances but if they feel their child is mature enough to handle a body piercing (for whatever reason-that's their business) then mind your own life and not worry about them. I would allow my daughter to get pierced so long as she can handle it, i would greatly discourage it if the only reason it was desired is her friend has it done, or trying to mimic someone. it's your right to feel how you want about it but why worry about it, focus more on studying hard and making more of your life than these so called tramps or sluts will.

More of a point rather than a question....What's the point? A bunch of young girls making a fashion statement or all doing something they individually believe to be an inward statement of their character or persona? I would bet the first! You see, an adult does things differently...most of the time and most of them at least. You get a tattoo or piercing for a reason, mainly because of an experience in life or some kind of inward feeling or belief of one's self...the persona! These little girls want to prove nothing more than that they are "cool and in!"....with each other!

I think people who get belly pierce, tounge pierce, eyebrow pierce or anything look like they are mindless zombies who have no individuality or minds of their own, and the parents of these kids really don't love them, they just want to make sure their daughters get pregnant as soon as possible so they can kick her out of the house.

You're smart, be you...the best you can be.

Not to mention the fact that it's age inappropriate, do they wonder what they'll look like when they are older and the hole from the nose piercing is still visible??? Tacky!

Personally i do think that its inappropriate as they are quite young and do not necessarily have the best intensions (i.e. they are just doing it to fit in / be cool), however, it is a form of personal expression, which every individual has the right to. As long as the piercings are kept clean, if in later life they regret it, they will heal up with little visible scaring.

A. It's their body, and they like it. Doesn't matter if someone else thinks it's tacky.

B.Whoever thinks piercings are just for "sexiness" is asinine.

C.This isn't the '50's anymore. We live in a generation where things that were taboo 50 years ago are no big deal now.

totally inappropiate. i mean 11-12, they aren't even teens yet. (what school d'u go to? with ppl like that? sri i was just curious) anyways, 11-12 do not need to look 'hot'/'sexy'/'cool'/'punk'/whatever' with piercing their noses or belly buttons. they're practically still considered kids, at least preteens. i agree their parents are crazy to let them do that, BUT how wuld u noe they HAVE a parent? maybe no one cares for them so they don't know whats rite and wats wrong. maybe they don't hav a parent but a foster one who doesn't care. or maybe an orphanage. or maybe their parents are so busy and rich they don't care wat their kids r doing as long as their still alive. i dunno, other ppl can't reli understand other ppl's brains. u'll just hav to avoid them, there's nothing u can do.

I think it's too early to them to get pierced at that age. They're still children and they'll probably get through that phase quite quickly. I say they should wait at least until they're 16 and see if they still like their idea about piercing.

I am a mother of sons, no daughters, but I never let them get art or piercings and I certainly wouldn't allow such young girls to make such weighty decisions. WAY too young!
