You really shouldn't have to have your mom's permission to get birth control. I'm not sure where you live but there should be a Planned Parenthood type place somewhere in your community or near it. All you have to do is call it up and you should be able to get an appointment and birth control. If that doesn't work I guess you could always tell your mom and your doctor that you're having really heavy, painful, irregular periods and that you heard that going on the pill will help with it. Idk I guess if I were a parent I would be happy that my child would be comfortable enough to come to me about anything even birth control.

Be open and honest with her.... Tell her you are sexually active and understand she may not approve but it's a fact and needs to be addressed so that no unwanted pregnancy occurs.. You may be surprised at her reaction..

Also birth control pills do not protect against sexually transmitted diseases and are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy... Use a condom as well and also spermicital foam..

If your mother will not address the situation contact your local health department most will direct you to local places you can get the birth control /disease prevention education and products you need at little to no cost to you... These places are also confidential..

Well Katie....I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your Mom or how old you are but I do think that if you are thinking of birth control and are sexually active that you should approach your mother about it and discuss it with her. She may go ballistic on you but in the long run I do think she will appreciate the fact that you came to her and not to a stranger or that you didn't sneak around. Good luck.

Be honest with your mother. She will ask even if you do not tell her. Secondly, parents are not as dumb as you think. I would rather my daughters be on birth control than raising a child when they should be concentrating on school and enjoying youth. You also need to discuss sex with your parents, as there are a lot of issues that will arise once you start having sex.

Why not? Haven't you discussed the birds and the bees yet? If you haven't, be responsible and tell her that you need them. She'll be upset, ask a bunch of questions, and probably cry, but she'll get over it.....and trust me, if she's smart, she'll hurry out and get those darn pills....asap.

However, how old "ARE" you, my dear? Lol. Things might go a little different if you're under 16. Hmmmm.

Explain the facts, birth control prevents pregnancy and also will help you stabalize your period each month. It is very important that you talk to her about this she will respect you more if you do, YOUR being responsible!!! Its nothing to be ashamed of!

I think she would really appreciate your honesty. I know she would rather have you take birth control than sneak behind her back and make her a grandmother.

Tell her you had an abortion. She'll instantly agree birth control is the way to go.

That's a tricky situation. Do you have anyone in the family that you can talk to about it, like an Aunt, or Older Sister. They are important, depending on your situation.
