We are Earthlings. Our whole existence on Earth is based around beginnings and endings - birth and death, start and finish, dead ends, etc. We have not the intellect to understand infinity.

The fact is, either the universe ends, or it doesn't. Either case is impossible for us to imagine.

That does not mean that it is impossible to show that the universe is infinite. Nobody can imagine what electricity and magnetism looks like, but we can use them and cannot now live without them.

There are going to be things in the universe that we can measure but not understand. For instance, light always travels at constant speed (in vacuum) even if the source of the light is moving at high speed. and what's more, that light will appear the same speed to observers travelling on the light source and those travelling in the opposite direction to the light source.

That scenario is impossible to our minds, but it can be shown experimentally.

area might by no skill end, besides the fact that it is no longer actally countless. To be maximum suitable, this is formed like a hypersphere (a 4 dimensional sphere). area is likewise curved. in case you went in a immediately line perpetually, you will possibly at last bang into the back of your self. area has no factor as such, at the same time as on an identical time being constrained. the whole technical expanation is basically too long to describe right here, and if I did, you will possibly think of i became into mad. study Paul Davies e book God And the recent Physics. this is deeply philosophical (among different issues) yet solutions this and comparable questions in great factor, and made for those that aren't astrophysicists. bill C's answer above is likewise very on the fringe of the actuality - the others are not properly worth lots.

On the far side of the known Universe is a place we call the Boundary. It is a zone of complete emptiness that stretches as far as we can penetrate with any insentient probe. This is the great sea of nothingness that seems to border the visible realm of creation. What is beyond it? Who knows? To find the answer will require someone of extraordinary courage. Are you such a person?

It's called infinity. Or eternity. There's a good story in Norse mythology:

In the land of Oden there is a mountain that is 100 miles long, high and wide. Once every 100 years a little bird flies to this huge rock and sharpens it's tiny beak. When the Rock of Oden has thus been worn away will be a single moment of eternity!

Wrap your mind about that!

The round blue ball called Earth has been traveling in space for billions of years around another bright yellow ball we call our sun.
And we haven't found the end yet.

Yes, it does end but there are unlimited number of universes infinitely smaller and larger than ours and there is only a 1 in 347489750923457230495687253908672349075623490785706790856723498765490687 chance that life exist beyond our own
(it is still possible though)

You keep travelling. Either gravity curves space enough so that you can travel in a straight line around space forever, or it doesn't and you can keep on going. There is, accoding to my best understanding, no in between.

Your dead body would eventually be pulled into the orbit of a planet and you'd just stay there forever. You wouldn't decompose. That's slightly creepy to think about.

If you could continuously travel in one observable direction for eternity, for various reasons, you would discover yourself at the same spot you started from.
