this is fine to do as long as she gets the full dose down, the reason the box says no food in the mouth is because if you try to put it in the mouth with food already in there it will stick to the food and may fall out as the horse opens its mouth and is chewing, but as long as the food you are putting the wormer into is in a bucket or feed bin where she can get all the feed and wormer, she is fine....

It has been a long time since I gave wormer to a horse, but the only way they would take it was mixed in feed. The product you are using probably will do no harm if mixed with feed, but it might not work. Get the kind you mix with feed and solve your problem.

Absolutely not! Pork fat is NOT horse food, and will most likely cause your horses to colic. Instead, go to you local feed store and get a bag of plain rice bran. I believe a 40lb bag costs about 5 bucks here. Start them out on about 1/4 scoop for at least 4 days, then up it to half a scoop. They can get some every time you feed them, so if you feed twice a day, they'll get 1/2 scoop twice a day, meaning 1 scoop total every day. Rice bran beefs horses up very, very well. A lot of professional trainers that I know use rice bran. And the horses love it! Plus it's cheap, and not harmful to the horse (minus, of course, if you suddenly gave them a large amount without letting their system get accustomed to it for a little bit).

As long as she ate it that is fine.
They tell you to make sure their mouth is clear as when you squirt it in sometimes they will spit it out if it gets on a lump of grass or hay.
If she ate it go right ahead.
To teach er about worming take hte tube the wormer came in a wash it out and put some molasses on in it and on the end and show it to her and let her learn that something good comes in that tube. Do it once a week or twice a week for a month and when you are ready to worm again she will most likely grab the wormer out of your hand to get the treat.

That is no problem at all. As long as it went down, you're in good shape. They say "no food in the mouth" because the horse can spit the wormer out if they already have extra food in there. I always mix wormer with a little grain, it works out fine.

Yep. My horse used to hat taking her wormers. we'd mix it in bran mash with some oats n apples. Sometimes she would figure it out but most of the time she took it well.

As long as she eats it on feed it's fine. They say nothing in mouth because food gives them a better way to spit it out. Mine wont touch feed with wormer on it though we have to shove 'em in a corner and wrestle it in

Well i do it like this. Act like you dont have anything, keep the thing hidden behind you back and give her some apples/carrots/oats. whatever she likes. Then while shes eating pet her, quickly grab her halter and shove the thing in the back of her mouth then before he/she can spit it out (my quater horse stallion does that) give her her fav treat. and if she tries to pull away again, just ask a big strong guy to hold her while you put it in. Oh and giving them food is fine, thats the only i can do it.

I have one horse that does the jerk your arm off trick... I just cover her eye with my hand on the side that I administer the wormer. She doesn't see it coming and she reacts to it way better. :)
