Check the fuse first. If that does not help, try to determine if you have electricity at the lighter. (you need a voltmeter or a test light) If you have power at the lighter, you can replace the whole thing. Go to a good auto parts store. They sell lighter units and parts.

Cigarette lighters do burn out. If it isn't the fuse, you'll only need to go to Wal*Mart or auto supply store and buy a new lighter. Simple. I would think it's the lighter and not the fuse though.

some times it is just a fuse. always check that first. Some times just a loose connection, Sometimes just burned out. And you need a new one. Not hard to replace. A cold glass of tea and a how to book and you are in business again.

Take a test light and see if there is juice in the lighter socket and if there is you have a burnt out element, just take it to the parts store and they can match it up to a new one for you.
