crackerjacks you've just shown me that the country's not yet bereft of geniuses. Great thought man!! The only problem as I see it is that all these damn lawyers and barristers with money signs in their eyes, and Cherie Blair at the forefront, would be ganging up to prevent your idea going ahead. They're called civil rights lawyers but the only right they know is to make sure they have enormous bank balances. Oh, but I wish!!

Something needs to be done with the scum - personally I'm in favour of dumping them on some desert island surrounded by sharks and let them fight it out amongst themselves. Actually, I see nothing wrong in using the worst of our society for medical experiments and drug testing - we might as well get something out of them and if they die in the process then so what.
One of the major problems with prisons is that they're schools for criminals - you go in knowing how to steal a car and come out knowing how to rob Fort Knox.
The poorer countries have very very few criminals - I've just got back from one where the money changers can leave a table full of money on the side of a street and no-one will touch it or a lady can walk alone through city streets in complete safety. It's not fair to inflict our scum on these essentially honest and decent people.

Why pay anyone..we still own the Falkland islands, dont we? half a million acres of scrubland and uninhabitable rocks..and a few sheep.
its already got a military airstrip, and a squad of the armys finest..doing almost bugger all, because argentina havent got a cat in hells chance of reclaiming their malvinas islands... its property of the crown. and its far more inhospitable than anywhere else on earth...its only a few thousand miles from the southern polar ice cap.. and a few thousand miles from anywhere else for that matter.
oh, and its eight thousand miles from England.
the army already send C41 herculeses back and forth, so they dont even need to lay on special transport... seems like a winner all round to me...now all we need are some politician with some bottle.. as an aside..it'd make guantanamo bay look hospitable and welcoming, wouldnt it?

In all British prisons the inmates work for their keep and in many cases actually subsidise our taxes. Making a good return on slave labour is why sending even the mildest wrong doer to prison is an easy option. The conditions you describe in foreign jails matches conditions in most of our own establishments.

Pedophiles have done monstrous acts, but they aren't monsters. They need to be cured, not punished. Punishment doesn't work. Look at the current jail system in America... Also, if you ship all of the pedophiles out to some island, there are plenty more among us who are too clever, too rich, or too connected to be persecuted and punished. Offering a cure to the perpetrators of this disgusting crime will hopefully offer a solution. For the status-quo sure hasn't....

Yep, possibly. Also, it will make them appreciate the intrinsic value of life when they see how people of that country suffer to gain access to water and basic needs.
However, what will happen to these people when they have served their sentence? Are they left in that country? Sometimes they will and what of the country then, already impoverised without such criminals roaming loose to prey on even more easy and vulnerable people.
Interesting idea, though.

depends on what you think "cushy" is. not all of our prison systems are top notch, nor are the prisoners treated like royalty.
and what about those who actually are not guilty?
not to mention our government would not be willing to pay them what it's worth when big corporations get away with paying pennies a day for hard labor.
nope. it wouldn't help us or help the poor countries to do that -how about they pay you to keep them at your house instead?

Oh yes, great, albeit unworkable, idea.
Who would have to pay for the transportation of these vile beasts?
UK taxpayers.
Who would pay the wages of the guards?
UK taxpayers.
Who would pay for the necessary upgrading of the prisons?
UK taxpayers.
Who would pay for their food?
UK taxpayers.
Who would pay for their visitors to visit?
UK taxpayers.
Nah...never work...I suggest we...
"round 'em all up...put 'em in a field...and BOMB THE BAST ARDS!!"
