A pick up truck's headlights will seem brighter, almost to the point the brights are on, but the regular lights are on. Further more, when the truck has a load it will multiply this affect.

Stop flashing people that drive pickup trucks to try getting them to turn off their brights.

I did not know this. I always thought that a pick ups lights seemed brighter due to them sitting higher than a car and therefore, the headlights level with my vision path.

That's funny....I've been in the car business for 23 years & I have never heard of this. Nor have I ever seen or witnessed this phenomenon.
And I've driven & sold hundreds of pick-up trucks & still never heard of this. Nor have any of my pick-up truck customers.

Maybe people are flashing their lights at you for some other reason......
do you have a light out?
do you have your lights off?
I've sometimes "flashed" some one to let them know that there is a squad car parked in their future, up the road.(just a little warning..commonly used)

hmmmm....interesting indeed,....my car, which is an Audi, has a little control whereby I can alter the height of my lights depending on whether or not I am carrying a heavy load in the car... I can make the lights go down if they are up, and up if they are down,...I'm surprised your trucks don't have the same adjustment control...
(if the lights are too high then they have the same effect that you are talking about)

Yeah, I rented a truck and noticed this. Everyone was flashing their brights at me.

I bet it's a GM/Chevy truck, isn't it.

Just confirms what I already knew, they forgot to put the quality in before the name went on.

So this wasn't a question? You just needed to complain?

And just so you know, its not just a GM thing. Ford, Dodge, Toyota, all trucks have the same effect.

Sorry, but you are responsible to have your lights adjusted if you are carrying a load. You can be fined for not doing this.
