"You woke up this morning and your face is pitted with them... do you want to know what to do about blackheads and how to remove them?

Checkout this informative article for some blackhead tips and effective techniques to deal with your blackhead problem...

Blackheads: What Are They And How Do You Remove Them?

Blackheads are when the sebum and resulting bacteria are only partially trapped, slowly draining out the surface and turning black because of your skin's melanin or pigmentation. When they come into contact with air this causes them to turn black.

How do you get rid of them?
There are many treatments on the market that promise to get rid of your blackheads. However the only way to remove them for any period of time is to squeeze them out. IMPORTANT: Before you run to the mirror and start squeezing there is a technique to it and by following this advice you will reduce the chance of causing skin damage.

Blackhead Removal Made Easier
Squeezing blackheads or pimples is a sure way to damage your skin. The force of the debris coming out of the skin can cause damage as well. In order to minimize this damage take the following steps:

1. Get two pieces of tissue (or a sterilized gauze pad) and wrap them around your finger tips. This will keep your fingers in contact with the skin and reduce the chances of them slipping. Which usually hurts and damages your skin as well.
2. With the tissue on your finger tips gently (and I do mean gently) apply pressure to the area around the blackhead.
3. Hold this gentle pressure for several seconds. Relax the pressure and repeat. Repeat this process until the blackhead has been extracted.
What happens if the blackhead does not come out using gentle pressure? If the blackhead does not come out you can do the following:

* Combine 1/4 cup boiling water with one teaspoon of Epsom salt and three drops of iodine. If you don't have iodine, it's pretty cheap and can be picked up at your local drug store. Or you can skip the iodine and use only the Epsom salt.
* Let mixture cool until it's not to hot to the touch.
* Dip a cotton ball in the mixture making sure it's well saturated and then blot on the blackhead(s).
* This mixture will help loosen the blackhead and make removal easier.
* Repeat the removal process above. Gently squeezing and holding the pressure for several seconds.

If the blackhead is still not coming out repeat the entire process again. Sometimes it takes forever for the blackhead to loosen up enough to come out. Try not to get frustrated and resist the urge to squeeze harder. This does nothing but damage your skin."

Blackheads will always come back, but the best way to open up pores to clean them, is have a hot bath or shower, clean your face thoroughly, and then use natural BPC witchhazel with some tea tree oil drops in it, and do this every day, It will clear out your pores.

Unfortunately, if you are one of these people with oily skin, like me, then you have to keep your face as clean as possible and try not to touch your face with dirty hands during the day.

Oh, and to the person who suggested washing with soap, don't. It will cause dry skin and can cause yellow head spots. Only ever use warm/hot water and clean flannel.

Blackheads are caused by oily skin. Basically the excess oil your skin produces gets into your pores and block them, causing a "plug" to form - thats the blackhead.

My BF has spanish blood and he has olive skin which is naturally oily - he tends to get blackheads a lot. I think they just keep coming back because his skin pumps out so much oil all the time

Advantage of oily skin is it looks plumper and smoother and doesn't wrinkle prematurely like dry skin does.

You need to control your skin's oiliness. Steam your face, use a blackhead scrub or a scrub for oily skin, also use pore strips to clear out the worst of them.

Going to a local sauna or steam room is good to get rid of them.

Also try cutting down on oil in foods as this helps the build up on the skin.

By using mud masks and having regular facials. Some people take cotton wool into the steam room with them to wipe their skin while they are in there, and then splash cold water on their face when they leave to close their pores.

I believe they are caused by old skin blocking the pores. So use a gentle exfoliating scrub daily followed by an astringent then an oil free moisturiser after.

Put on a hot towel over ur face for 15 min and pop the sucker out...and to keep them from coming back...wash your face with hot water and soap and rinse with hot water and rinse with cold water again nightly...hot water opens your pores and the soap cleans the dirt and oil and cold water closes your pores so oil and dirt won't get in.
