Or even saved him? I'm not good with health and bloodflow and all that, but I was wondering...maybe he made the wrong move by pulling it out? I mean, he did go unconsious right after he pulled it out. I don't know.

Yeah, stingrays do have poison. Excrusiatingly(pardon the spelling) painful, but all in all not too deadly. But it was a major organ, so it probably did effect it differently.

RIP, Steve, by the way. You'll be missed.

I'm assuming that he probably would have lived maybe a few seconds longer but still would have died around the same time because even though the sting ray venom isn't fatal, it was still lodged in his heart so it would have acted up eventually. Of course no one can be positive... Plus, the sting ray would have been moving around and might have pulled itself out. I also think that Steve Irwin knew what he was doing when he pulled it out. maybe if he had left it in, it would have spared him only to endure excruciating pain.

The poison isn't enough to kill a person (unless you're allergic, like a bee sting). Someone was stung on the last cruise we were on, and other than a really sore ankle she was just fine.

However, if he had left the barb in he would have basically had a decent-sized stingray attached to his chest and trying desperately to get away. I think the fighting animal would have torn the barb out and that would have killed him anyway. At least this way he pulled it out and swam to the surface before he died, so his body wasn't just lost at sea forever.

there is not any danger of surviving a stingray attack of that magnitude. For one, there became into the reality that Steve became into stabbed interior the middle. for 2, the barb on the tip of a stingrays tail is rather poisonous. So in actuality, it became into no longer a count of Steve bleeding out; yet of venom being injected into the middle and pumped for the duration of the bloodstream.

I don't think so. The spines usually contain venom and while its not usually that dangerous it was still basically put directly into the heart. Also it probably would have started to try to get away and thrash around a bit. If anything it would have caused it to be more painful if he would be alive at that moment. Thats just my opinion.

i'm with you on that one, i was wondering the same way, i mean they save people from worse things, it he could have kept it in there long enough to get to a hospital maybe a surgeon could have dont something to remove it and repair his heart, just my thoughts on it.

although, i am sure he never thought it was through his heart when he yanked it out.

don't all stingrays have some poison in them? why would it definately kill him was it a special type of ray or something>?

There would still be the strong poison going straight into his heart and all throughout his body, not to mention the extreme trauma... I doubt it.

He was a good person, and he is missed.

It probably would have spared him a few moments to stop swimming and call for help. It's sad to see the crocidile hunter go. I liked his crazy self.

It probably would have, but from how it sounds, he wasn't going to last long anyway.
