We never vote for our President in India. We do not vote even for our PM. We vote for a MLA and MP and they elect the CM and PM. The President is elected by an electoral college consisting of the elected representatives of the people, an indirect and secret ballot. I would love to vote for the President. But, if the President can be elected directly by the people, that means that we give up the present west minister set up of government and a constitutional amendment is required.

Not sure I love it. But it is a right everyone should partake in. There are way too many people who tout how they do not bother to vote. And then cry about all the crap they hate about our government officials do or do not do. If more people took that right as the true responsibility it is, this country might be better off than we are now.

Yes, though as a few have said, it's often a case of choosing the lesser of two evils. I've been a voter ever since '92, the first presidential (and congressional) elections I was eligible to vote in.

I like to excercise my right to vote- I'm also proud to do it.

Practically speaking though, it is often chosing the lesser of two evils. Why in the heck can't we get decent people to run for the presidency.

No. Because my vote is never counted.

I've never voted for either of the two major party candidates, so my vote literally has never been counted in any presidential election.

I *like* voting when I pick between the lesser of evils. I *love* voting when I pick between great candidates.

It is a freedom that many do not have and have never known. My vote is precious to me and I'd whoop someone bad if they tried to take it away (even if it is someone who's supposed to be counting, not burning, votes!)....
