I have mental-health issues. I am proficient in data entry and telecommunications but when I go out into the "real world" and get a job, I end up having a meltdown and either getting fired or quitting. I WANT to work. I NEED the money. Right now we live below poverty level. I know I can safely work at home, on the phone or computer and be a productive citizen. Someone please help me.

Maybe if you go to your local department of public welfare office they could assist you in finding that kind of job. I understand your situation & there has to be help for you. There might even be some disability you could get. Maybe cash assistance until you get on your feet. Good luck girlie.

You are not obligated to support your parents financially. The guilt you have is a moral issue... if it makes you feel better start a savings account and put money aside for when the day comes and your parents do ask you for money. It would also be a good idea to keep large cash reserves in savings accounts for your own sake... Other than that... live your own life according to your own financial abilities. If that means you have the funds to buy a house, go on vacation, etc. It is your decision.

Have you talked with your mental health professionals about this issue? In larger cities there are vocational rehabilitation programs, usually they are state funded so another way to find them is to contact a general number for state government and get transferred around till you find the right person. Ask for vocational rehabilitation and tell them you are looking for services for mental health clients. For example in Ohio it is called BVR (Bureau of Vocational Rehab.)

What this service will do can be quite comprehensive. They will help you build your confidence and ability to work in low stress jobs, often the first step is working in a simple job at a facility that serves mental health clients. They will assess your skills, and your unique challenges, and they will help you figure out what you can do. They will help you write a resume and find a job, and may even offer job coaching, where they come into your job and help you figure out how to do it and how to cope with the pressure or stress you may feel especially in the beginning.

People in your situation are more common than you may think. There is support out there to help you, you just need to find it and tap into it.

Best of luck to you.

Since I'm disabled, I work at home to earn cash. I take surveys, sample products, sign-up for free trials, join clubs, register for credit cards and get paid for it all. I shop at hundreds of name brand stores and get rebates for every purchase. It's shopping I'm already doing, so why not get paid for it? I play mini-games for pearls, discover gems, find gold coins and trade them in for bonus prizes! I participate in free contests & treasure hunts for even more cash! I tell my friends and receive 20% of what they earn and 5% from my second level referrals. The earning potential is unlimited! If you're interested in earning extra cash check out Treasure Trooper:

Two very similar programs I use are Order Cash 4 Free and Cash Crate:

I've been able to earn a significant income from these three programs and I highly recommend them to anyone who need to earn extra cash.

Please pick up the phone and call the United Way Agencies in your area, asking about employment opportunities for the disabled. They have a database full of local organizations that can assist you with employment, training, transportation, counseling and whatever is needed to get you out of the house and into the working world once again. There's help out there but you have to ask for it.
