Most major cities and a lot of small towns have full time, paid firefighters. Others have paid volunteers. When they go to a fire, they get paid. Some towns have a combination of both. Grady County, OK, has an all volunteer fire service for rural areas and support for cities and towns. Grady County Fire Service is the 3rd largest department in Oklahoma, exceeded in numbers by Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
