I think you can type a letter and refute it, call the court.

The violation is an offence against the State of Virginia. Unless a mistake was made in writing the ticket, there isn't much you can do to fight it. Regardless of whether you fight it or pay, it all has to be done through the county in which it happened.

Hi, i understand your predicament. although you have just admitted that you were doing 12mph over the limit (hardley a capital punishment, i know) this reminded me of a local guy who just got sent down for denying that he was in a speed camera photos doing 50mph in a 30mph... the fact that he lied in court, made it worse than the original offence....
Remember the song "I fought the law and the law won"
Its only a speeder - take it on the chin like a man / woman and save yourself the wasted time and flight money (plus: possible additional fines and court costs)
Speaking as a layman, i dont think this will hold up in court
"*** i was going 12 miles over limit *** and did not notice that the speed limit had changed it is my first offence"
If you fight about it then, its the *** admission *** that'll screw you.
Good Luck !

If this is your first on then you are eligble for court supervision and it wont go on your record if u keep yopur nose clean for 12 months, u r saying u are guilty of speeding so i would not fight it but i would try to get it off my record

if you want to fight it, you gotta go to court, on their home ground. If they got you on radar and gave you a ticket, they arent gonna let you get off. Unless you got the time and are heading back there anyway, it probably wouldnt be worth it to get abused in court.

Just pay the ticket.. It would be really hard to prove why you were speeding to a judge.

if you want to fight it you will have to go back to Virginia and go to court otherwise they will send you charge (to NJ) and you will have to pay it.
