Hi, I am in my last year of school in college and am presedent of a music sorority. Next week we are going to induct new members and have a lot of fun during or pledge and after pledge week. During all this our sorority has hired a hypnotist to perform and as the presedent I will have to volunteer and get hypnotized. I am really worried about this because I don't want to embarass myself and am worried that hypnotists could take advantage of me. Has anyone here been hypnotized and knows what it's like? Does it hurt and does it make you all suggestable afterwords? Or..is it just a lot of fun. I want to have fun next week and participate but...this nervous I doubt I can. I appreciate any help.

About two-thirds of the population can be hypnotized. It's awful difficult to make somebody do something really against their will. What has this question go to do with LGBT issues? Are you worried you might turn gay or that all your inhibitions relating to your sexuality might suddenly be turned off. It's a possibility, but only if you secretly want your inhibitions turned off. Anybody being made to look like an idiot is all part of the job, isn't it? After all you volunteered to be President. Come on let's not be so anal about this.

I myself would not want to be hypnotized. In fact, I don't think my mind would allow that to happen. I have always heard that a hypnotized person will not do anything that goes against their principles.

It does work.
it doesn't hurt.
You cannot be made to do something that is against your nature and no you don't become overly suggestible afterward.
It can be very relaxing.

and BTW to the ones that started in with the "scam" talk...no it isn't.
