I am wanting to take my acrylic nails off that I have worn forever. I know that my natural nails underneath are going to be a mess. Does anyone know of a product to use that will keep them from looking so awful while they recover? I need a strengthener and probably something with protein in it. Thanks!

There's a product called Nailtiques, that is absolutely FABULOUS! It requires that you put a new coat on every day, but it dries quick, and will make your nails stronger with the first coat!!! My daughter and my friend both (independently) used this after taking their acrylics off, and both had really good results. There are different formulas available, so look for the one that is for repairing damaged nails. I've seen this at Long's...not sure where else it might be available (FYI, it's in a tiny box, and can be kinda hard to locate...where I get it, it's on the top shelf in the nail care section).

the professional ladies show no mercy when they take your nails off, they rip em off just like they do when they put a new set on. I like to do it myself, use clippers to cut them short, then work from there. Just put clear nailpolish on them, with strengthner...also get a square file and file your nails so they are smooth. Everyone i've even know has horrible nails after they take acryllics off - i must be lucky cause mine are still VERY strong and healthy everytime i take them off (knock on wood)

Only acetone will remove them. PURE acetone. Try NAILTIQUES treatment. There are many knockoffs. Get the real deal. Go to a beauty supplier, or try to buy online, they may have a website.May want to professionly have them removed, they may carry NAILTIQUES!You apply a coat every day for 10 days, remove and start over. Stuff is MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!

The real nail will be messed up no matter how you remove them. I say save yourself the expense and bite them off.
