First let me start off by saying that according to my last mestrual period I'm 10 weeks...but I know I'm 8 (since my husband came on leave around that time)...I went to my first OB visit..had a vaginal ultrasound done and there was no heartbeat detected. All I've been doing is crying. I need your help. Has this ever happened to anyone?? If so, was it a miscarriage? Or is there still hope? I belive in miracles and I'm hoping that my baby is ok. All answers and prayers are greatly appreciated.

it could be that the baby was positioned in a way the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat or that it was so faint that you couldn't hear it. If you are bleeding and crapping then you should see you doctor otherwise i believe you are pregnant and it is just to early to get a heartbeat.

Did you ever have a positive pregnancy test? When I was 10 or 12 weeks along I went in for a checkup and they couldn't find the heartbeat. So we did an ultrasound, and couldn't find the baby. The doctor was basically 100% sure that I had miscarried, well, absorbed the baby back into my system. That is why there was no bleeding involved. That may have happened with you, or maybe not. I would go get an ultrasound, or two. After my doctor told me that I was no longer pregnant, I went to the hospital for a second opinion. My son showed up on the ultrasound right away. He was perfectly fine. The two hours that I waited to hear that news were the two worst years of my life. It was terrible. So I know how you are feeling, but try not to worry too much until you can have the news confirmed one way or the other. Good luck to you!

THE PERSON who said 13 weeks is the earliest to hear the heart is talking about dopple not ultersound by doppler they usually don't try till at least 13 weeks. ULTERSOUND is not the same the heart statrs to beat in the 5 week but usually is not seen till 6-8 weeks. Pregnancy by doctors is counted from last period not ovulation. SO you are 2 weeks pregnant by LMP when you ovulated. You are 4 weeks when your period is due even thou the baby is only 2 weeks old gestation. Anyway not sure if you are counting 8 weeks LMP or actual fetal gestation.. Either way if your 8 or 10 weeks a heartbeat is almost ALWAYS SEEN BY 7 to 8 weeks in a viable pregnancy WHEN IT'S NOT your doctor should let you know what the problem is. My mom is a ultrasound tec. She Say's most heartbeats are seen by 7 weeks in RARE RARE cases it's not seen till 8 weeks but she has even got heart tones at 6.5 weeks. I had a pregnancy in 2002 fertility drug treatment pregnancy. AT 8 weeks there was a sac seen a fetal pole with no heart tones. I was told to follow up in a week BUT my doctor said he felt the embryo had died. He said he would re check thou. He checked again when I'd be 9 weeks no more growth had happened still no heart beat. He said i should lose the pregnancy on my own by 12 weeks if i did not miscarry on my own by week 12 they would do a d&c. I never had a SPOT never a cramp or anything till 10 weeks 3 days I started to bleed i lost the pregnancy on my own no D&C was needed. DATES can always be wrong so i'ld say wait and see i'm SURE they will re check. If in deed you are at least 8 weeks i'ld say be prepared and call your doc and ask what he thinks is going on. My doctor was very honest with me that be did not think it would last.

Don't worrie just yet. I didn't here my baby's heart beat until 11 weeks i think 8 weeks is early. IF your not cramping and your doctor didn't say anything that was wrong. Don't panic.I have had tree miscarriages and 2 births. unless your doctor said that something is wrong don't worrie too much. What did the doctor say? Did they have a picture on the ultrasound of the heart was it moving? or was there nothing? your in my prayer's there is always hope..

That early it's really hard to see the heartbeat on ultrasound-after all the baby is SO tiny at this point and it's darn near impossible to hear the heartbeat. If you have no other symptoms I would stop worrying. They couldn't detect my baby's heartbeat until I was 13 weeks or so and that was with ultrasound not the dopplar. Don't stress cause that can cause the baby anxiety too. Stay calm and just envision that little baby growing in your belly. Congrats!

Well, I don't have an answer for you because I've never been through that but talk to the dr...what did the tech say? Usually by then, on an ultrasound they should see the hearbeat, although I'm not a professional and it could be they just didn't see it. I hope that your baby is ok. I couldn't imagine what you're feeling right now. Have faith and keep your chin up. It could just have been a flook thing and your baby could be fine!

Did the doctor seem concerned? You really need to call the office tomorrow and find out what's going on. He should have been more compassionate and told you what was happening and if there are any concerns. You might even want to consider changing doctors if this is how he's going to be. Be more assertive and demand to know what's going on! This is your baby and both of your health!!!
I don't know if you're baby is fine or not. But I will pray for you!

They might not of been able to detect the babies heartbeat due to the fact that it is extremly small at this point and heartbeats are usually very faint. All you can really do is try to keep calm and keep praying, I will pray for you and your baby I hope for the best

Could it be that you have your dates wrong? If you are 6 weeks or less it is totally normal to not detect a heart beat yet. Was there a yolk sac and if so what did it measure? My prayers are with you.

I had the same thing happen to me and I miscarried 4 days later. Most of the time when they don't find a heart beat it means the baby is not alive. Sorry!
