Yea, people in the U.S. are individuals first and foremost, and should not have any kind of predisposed job or entitlement or whatever for being of any ethnic persuasion.
As a group though, meaning most of the Latino people, they tend to make less money, but represent a huge portion of our essential labor workforce. Depending on their faith they are generally a socially conservative people, and could one day help to create a conservative majority in our country if they become economically and socially more 'equal' to whites. Most of the produce you have was farmed or picked by Latinos. A lot of Latinos work in construction and physical labor. However, it is true that many also work at fast food restaurants (because those restaurants are depending on an excellent, fast work ethic, which stereotypically most Latinos have). Right now in American society Latinos represent the fastest growing group. As much as 1/3 Americans will be Latino in fifty years.

Just as the Irish and Germans and French and Polish and Hungarians and Chinese and Japanese in their day brought out extreme racism and anger towards them, beause their presence changed forever this nation, the Latinos are also harbingers of change that will forever change this nation.
And, once we pay for our evil racism, it will be a better nation as our ancestors also made it.

It is the job of latinos/hispanics to assimilate into american society and become on of us and become americans, and be a part of America, the greatest nation to ever exist.
Latinos/Hispanics are assimilating (breaking out of poverty) even faster than black people (who've been here longer!).

If they are here legally, to be contributing citizens, acclimating themselves to American culture and embracing the United States of America as their country and no other.
If they are here illegally, to be a black-market sweat-shop or day-laborer until they get caught. Illegal immigrants have no place in our society and need to be shown the door.
