my son is required to cover his math book. it is larger than the covers now conveniently available for purchase so i must resort to "the old fashioned way". anyone remember how that is done?

Get a book sleeve - they stretch.
As for the old fashioned way -
1. you lay the book, approximately in the middle of a large piece of covering paper.
2. then fold the paper over the spine of the book and cover the top as much as the bottom.
3. Then bend the extra vertical edges inwards.
4. Put a cut in the paper at the spine, so that the horizontal extra edges can bend inward.
5. Then you can tape them together.

well first i would like 2 say that the best way 2 cover a text book is w/ paper, just last year in my history class the people w/ the strechy book covers, it ruined their books

This doesn't really answer your specific question, but DID YOU GO TO OFFICE MAX? They have very very stretchy book covers for $1.99 ~ I slipped one over my 16" laptop with stretch to spare!
