That I'll never set foot off in beach or ocean water again thanks to his experience...Nor will I let my daughter either and I'll discourage my husband as well.

Their stinger is a razor-sharp, barbed or serrated cartilaginous spine which grows from the ray's whip-like tail (like a fingernail). It is coated with a toxic venom. This gives them their common name of stingrays, but the name can also be used to refer to any poisonous ray.

I've hand feed stingrays. I've never heard of anyone getting barbed by one unless they had stepped on them. I'll sure be more careful around them now.

i ain't saying it should have killed him but i understand. Ya poke your piehole around where it doesn't belong long enough it is bound to happen.
I know that the stingray won't take as much crap as, and is much smarter than, a crocodile.

As much as I have, four years ago I got barbed. Diving off my boat, North Clearwater Beach. Put my foot down in a sand bar, thats all she wrote.Painful, took months to heal, nasty critters.

i can't believe he died. after all the crazy stuff he's done, that's what finally got him. huh? it's really sad though, and kinda unbelievable.
