Go for it honey!!! There are so many people having children late in their lives. Children are a blessing. You would really enjoy having a baby. Yes your chances of birth defects are higher, but give it a shot. If you don't have kids who is going to be there for you when you are 80?

If you are still menstruating and based on your hormone levels, still fertile, you still have some chance of becoming pregnant at your age. The decline in fertility begins at about age 35, at about 10%. By the time a woman is 40, she has a 5% chance of becoming pregnant and at age 45, this decreased to about 1%. However, that raises other questions. Would this be your first pregnancy? If not, how many previous pregnancies have you had? The reason being that at age 45, you would be classed as a high risk pregnancy due to advanced maternal age. If you are attempting pregnancy now for the first time, it increases risk factors even more, and you are considered by the medical community as an "elderly primipara". Given this age, even in excellent health, the pregnancy would overburden your body and labor and delivery could be extremely difficult.
The incidence of genetic abnormalities increases with age, with a chance of down's syndrome 1 in 350 pregnancies at age 35, 1 in 38 pregnancies at age 40, and by age 45 1 in every 12 women who become pregnant will have a down's syndrome baby. At age 45, there is an increase in fetal and maternal death, and there are increased risk of miscarriage, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia (pregnancy induced hypertension leading to toxemia of pregnancy) and abruption (premature separation of the placenta before baby is born).
Based on this information, weigh your decisions carefully, and best of luck.

You should not since it would be unhealthy and unnatural. A 45 yr. old woman that is pregnant is an extreme pervert. Nature has already told you not to have children. Do not punish an innocent child because of your selfish perverted desires.

its very possible to have a baby at 45 my cousin did, however she had a high risk pregnancy and it wasnt a very safe descision for her to make. the best advice i could give you would be to talk this over with your ob and see if they think its a good idea or not. there are alot of complications with having children late in life so go over all of the health concerns and complications you could face by becoming pregnant at such a late stage with your doctor and have them help you to decide what is best for you, if it comes down to it you could always adopt . there are alot of wonderful children out there just looking for someone to love them !

Slim, They are considering banning the artificial insemination for people 40 and over, I heard it's because the success rate is less than 9%, look into adopting or a surrogate

You can go to a doctor and find out if you're in good enough health. Usually if youre healthy enough and not menapausal theres absolutely no reason you cant have a baby. Accident siblings happen when moms are that age quite often. :)

Well, I know it's possible but I wouldn't reccomend it. You're more at risk for birth defects and problems with the pregnancy. Talk to your obgyn about the risks of pregnancy at your age. They can help you make the decision that's right for you. best of luck!
