I agree wit u. I hate those punk rappers of today they suck. I miss the good rappers like the westcoast such as Shade Sheist, Damizza and Bone Thugs too. I miss how the rappers used to do beats before so tight, like Snoop, Lauren Hill, u get me, before right now. Rap today is a bunch of bullcrap with stupid D4L, Young Joc, Cassie, Nee-Yo and all these other new rappers. That's why I hear Launch were I pick my own songs and bump to that good ol' hip hop like The Next Movement by The Roots. Or old school Jay-Z songs they were tight such as Song Cry.

Rap is crap & hip hop is almost completly dead todays artist look for instant fame while feeding thier listeners bullshit & garbage I was born into hip hop & have watched it change alot hopefully one day artists will be loved 4 thought provoken lyrics and not videos that futher degrade women and each other its a sign of the times when you buy an album & only 5 out of 15 songs(minus 6 skits)are good enough to hear again however I ultimatly blame the industry for spoon feeding us piss and telling us it runny honey its fine to want to dance and have fun but not everybody cares about your rims, jewels, cars or crack sales Step Ya Game Up RIP Jay Dee aka J. Dilla aka James Yancey aka Detroit born Hip-Hop Genuis (Please listen to You Can't Hold The Torch by Busta Rhymes ft Q-Tip off The Big Bang)

I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, but it should be viewed like any other part of the world of music: it will be constantly in evolution (if it is to survive), sometimes going in directions that don't seem to lead anywhere- but which will help feed the next big change which will make you appreciate hip-hop again.
It is like any other art form- it needs to go where it will to allow for innovators to emerge. At some point the type of hip-hop you're talking about will be overtaken by something better- but which in some way benefit from this somewhat questionable part of the hip-hop world.
The one clear beneift of this pop-hip-hop is that it does widen the audience for the music, some listeners will explore beyond the almost comical (some would say exploitive) music you're talking about above.

you don't consider Fort Minor mainstream?
I like hip-hop.. and it's nice hearing it on a variety of radio stations.. :D
I'd even go almost as far as saying Kanye West is mainstream hip-hop
