Ok so 3 lbs of rock are measured on a scale next to the 3 lb measurement of feathers. Both scales say 3 lbs., however the featers would take up more space and pile high into the sky. The rocks would be lower to the ground. Contributing to the measured weight on the rock scale would be the extra atmosphere above the rocks. So if the rocks + atmosphere = 3 lbs and just the feathers = 3 lbs, I would say that the feathers would actually weigh more than the rocks. Unless of course they are somehow the same volume.

they are the same (even if its three pounds of gold - the troy ounce is for monetary purposes - three pounds of it is just that ... 3 pounds), the only difference, the feathers would take up more volume. geeeezzzzzzzzzz

In the new liberal math the rocks would weigh more because we "feel" ot "think" that they should weigh more, therefore they do weigh more. Regardless of what science or common sense would say the "feeling" will take precedence.

many answers to this one.
here's one:
the nervous system controls the muscles as well as the brain. if you were to lift it while looking, the rocks would literally "be" heavier to you. however, if you were to blindfold yourself and lift both sets of objects with a rope, they would be equal. a scale would say the latter as well, obviously. (there is a weight-lifting technique that uses this concept to gain pounds on your "max")
