There are products for this especially. If you get regular cleaner it will say "not safe for laptops" - what is as important as the cleaner is the cloth. Several products exist at CompUSA.

Get some of those Pledge: Multi Surface wipees. They're pre-moistened! They r awesome!

dont use windex or anything with amonia. Just use a damp clothwith just a little and I mean a little of dish liquid. Wipe and dry

I use eye glass cleaner and a eye glass cloth..Works great, with no scratches..

take glass cleaner and if possible use a microfiber rag
