Its called "ick". Remedies for ick are found in pet/fish stores.

It looks like ick that has gone wrong and caused necorsis of the fins (the tissues is dead, and hence turned black), or some other bacterial infection. Treat the tank for ick, crank up the temp to around 80 (this gets rid of ick very quickly), and get some anitbiotics at your aquarium store to put in the water. Or - If you don't want to spend $20 on a free goldfish, just go buy another fish!

i don't think of it fairly is fin rot or ick or any form of an infection. Goldfish are regularly occurring to alter colour each and all of the time through fact of the two nutrition regimen or environment. My Goldfish grew to become from gold to organic white on his fins and physique and he continues to be alive 2 years later. As long there is not any boost or something finding like it fairly is being ingesting away (fin rot) i does not difficulty approximately it. although, it fairly is effective to to get some try strips and take a inspect your water for Ph and ammonia :)

The black fins are probably ammonia burn. It goes away over time with optimum water conditions. I don't know of any medication to fix it. Frequent water changes and closely monitored feeding will keep your water in great condition, and the burns will slowly disappear. There is a group on the net that is great with goldfish issues, try looking up goldfish sanctuary. I've actually dealt with this problem at work before.
