I would consult her OB/GYN. They will want to test you first as it's easier. They will give you a glass container to do your thing in, as well as proper instructions on what to do with the container and a phone number to call to let the lab know that you will be on your way with a specimen.
You will then have 30 min., from the time you ejaculate, to take it to the nearest hospital lab for testing. It only takes a day or two for results.
My husband did this, as we winged it for two years with no success. No, insurance doesn't cover and it cost us about $60 in the state of Wisconsin. Not bad.... Come to find out there was nothing wrong with either of us. It's possible you're just doing it when your wife isn't ovulating.
Have your wife buy a few ovulation test kits and test DAILY from the last day of her period until she surges. When she is ovulating, have sex. My OB/GYN suggested this and I got pregnant, after my husband did his thing in a jar, after two months of checking my ovulation/peeing on a stick daily. Good Luck!

I wouldn't do anything yet. Get a ovulation predictor kit from the local drug store and have her use it. Be sure to have sex on her fertile days. Try that for a few months and see what happens. If nothing happens in 6 months than I would see a Dr. I'm not sure how much a sperm count costs, but I'm willing to bet you won't need to get one. You probably are just missing her fertile days.

It could just be that you are not having sex at the right times to conceive. It can take some couples a year or so to get pregnant. Some people get pregnant right away and it takes a while for some. Have her talk to her obgyn about it to see what the options are and if any testing can be done.

I wouldn't assume that you have a low sperm count already. My husband and I took seven months to conceive. I asked my doctor and he told me that the average of his patients is 8-9 months of trying to conceive. Also, my sister and her husband went to a fertility clinic about eight months ago and they said that her husband had a low sperm count and she is now 13 weeks pregnant, but I'm not sure how much it cost them. Good luck and keep trying!!!!

I have a girlfriend who is trying to get pregnant she told me sperm count tests for her husband were around $250. Their insurance didn't cover it either. It is less expensive to find out if it is you first than for her to get tested. That is where I would start if I was concerned.

YOU CAN BUY TESTS AT THE STORE TO TELL YOU WHEN SHE IS OVULATING THEIR NOT TO EXPENSIVE AROUND 10-15 DOLLARS . SOMETIMES IT TAKES A WHILE IT TOOK ME ALMOST YEAR TO GET PREGNANT AND WE WERE HAVING SEX ALMOST EVERYDAY. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TO COME BACK FOR TESTS IF I DIDN'T GET PREGNANT WITHIN ONE YEAR AS FOR THE LOW SPERM COUNT DON'T TAKE REALLY HOT BATHS AND DON'T WEAR TIGHT UNDERWEAR. AND IF SHE WAS ON BIRTH CONTROL SOMETIMES IT CAN TAKE MONTHS TO A YEAR TO GET PREGNANT AFTER STOPPING BIRTH CONTROL
