I am bad about telling people what other people think about them even if it is negative and saying whatever is on my mind. I am also bad about talking about my divorce and why we got divorced with my new boyfriend telling him all the bad things that had happened to me while in the relationship. Afterward I get really quiet and clam up and even start crying because I am thinking I am saying things that shouldn't be said that will either push people I love away or I am afraid that will hurt their feelings or make them upset with me. My boyfriend tells me he don't mind that I am so open with him about how things went with my ex husband or what my feelings are about whatever it is that is on my mind, but sometimes I feel I say way too much. How will I know if it is too much that I am saying? How does one stop being so truthful and sound too much like a sad sack or like they are always depressed or worried about what they are saying or doing?

try to tell yourself, what good will come from what im thinking? if its negative, bite your tongue. LISTEN to what others are saying, you have it in you to know right from wrong. think about it before you say it! you learn more with your mouth shut than open;THINK ABOUT IT

You actually have foot and mouth decease! I used to have it too. Basically it is very immature and shows that you have a low self esteem. What you need to do is "think" before you speak. Put yourself in the other person's shoes and ask yourself how would this information help me? Would it hurt me? Is there really a positive result of the comment?
I have a friend that talks about a past relationship now 12 years later. It is so annoying and no body tells her so. They let her just say it over and over but tune her out. She has no close friends as a result. People are not telling you how it makes them feel because 1. they are more mature than you. 2. They don't want to hurt "Your" feelings 3. Its more fun to talk behind your back.
Basically you are trying to get attention whether its intentional or not. You need to grow up and stop. Be a peace maker and find positive things to talk about.

I used to do that, what you need to do is think before you speak, you will only hurt peoples feeling. What you think of them does not matter to them anyway, so like me just keep your mouth shut, its better that way. GOOD LUCK try it sometime it works

i do too-that's why i love this sight-it doesn't get me in trouble-so when you feel the need to express-yahoo it!! but if need be- try and take a long pause- think before you speak-people might think your a freak for looking at them and pausing for a few Sec's but it works!! try it w/ your doc. next time you ask him a question-and you'll see what i mean- the smart ones have the right idea!

You should think about the consequences of what you are going to say before you say it. Keep some of the more negative things to yourself.
