I saw a man on the bus acting strange in the presence of his little daughter, I sort of sensed something wasn't all right in their relationship and I wanted to talk to the guy but even if something sad and bad was happening there, how would I prove it? Today, I saw a guy kick his dog and when I threatened to call the police he wanted to hit me and I am a girl!! What do you do when you see such terrible things happen and you're alone and no one would stand up for the kid or the animal? These kind od situations really p*** me off because I love everything that's innocent & needs protection. And other people are so selfish, they don't see what's going on because they don't want to.

The place you're talking about really sounds like where i come from (india---and yes it does seem pretty useless to call cops when they take 2 hours to get there) Its really nice to hear how some people are actually concerned about what's going on, when to most people, watching these things happen is totally normal to them. Having experience with these kind of things, i really think that setting a good example is the best thing you can do.
I saw people throwing rocks at a stray puppy, and told them to stop and asked them what pleasure they get out of it. Someone tells me to throw the candy wrapper out the window (considered the normal thing to do here) just becuase there's know trash can nearby, i told them i don't want to contribute to the pollution that's harming our Earth, even it is a small piece of paper. These are just some small things that i have done to be different from the selfish world around me. And you will be amazed by how many people you can inspire by one small action.

How do you deal with cruelty?
Cruelty is Evil.
God deals with Evil HEAVELLY.

IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME THAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS TELLING YOU TO DO SOMETHING OR SAY SOMETHING TO THE MAN TO GET HIM TO CHANGE HIS MIND AND RETURN TO GOD WHOM IS GOOD AND LOVE.
HE MAYBE CALLING YOU INTO LAW ENFORCEMENT AS A WITTNESS FOR HIM.
Today, I saw a guy kick his dog and when I threatened to call the police he wanted to hit me and I am a girl!! These kind od situations really p*** me off because I love everything that's innocent & needs protection. YOU STAND UP ANYWAY AND IF YOU ARE PERSECUTED FOR GOOD THEN WELCOME IT FOR GOD SEE THIS THAN WILL TAKE IT INTO ACCOUNT AND PLAECE IT IN THE BOOK OF LIFE AND REMEMBERENCE AS LONG AS YOU BELIEVE IN JESUSE AND WHAT HE DID.
And other people are so selfish, they don't see what's going on because they don't want to. IF GOD IS REVELING THESE THINGS TO YOU THEN HE IS WANTING YOU TO STAND UP TO THESE PEOPLE AND BE ON THE FOREFRON IN DEFENCE FOR THE INOCIOENT.
Trust in God. He is in control and he is only letting evil exist for a short time to prove to man that he is not as smart as he thinks.

Call the police. File a report. Ask other people to help you get involved if you feel you need back-up. I wouldn't "threaten" to call the police, I would quietly do it.
I would not, however, put myself in danger by becoming involved in a situation that could get out of control.
I witnessed a messy scene with a woman screaming at a yougn child. I went over to her, tapped her arm, and quietly said "You must be overwhelmed. Can I help? Do you need a minute?" She was stunned, and after a few seconds, started sobbing. She was at her breaking point and just needed someone to turn to. It ended with the mother and child hugging each other and both crying a little, then going home.

Most of what it's possible to do, it sounds to me like you're already doing. Just being aware of your surroundings, and being sensitive to the presence of suffering, actually does make a difference, in my opinion. You said you sensed something not quite right in that man's interactions with his little girl. If he had actually done something clearly out of line, something tells me that you would have said something or otherwise stepped in.

I think the next step is to try to make contact with other people who feel the way you do, and we are out there--but maybe closer to home instead of online. For example, you might volunteer with an animal rescue organization or as a tutor to kids in need. It's not just that it gives you a practical way to put those humanitarian instincts to work in a way that helps other people/creatures, it's that it makes you part of a larger network of people who want the same things, which makes you more powerful than you ever could be as one individual. (My dad decided on the spur of the moment to go down and rescue animals after Hurricane Katrina. There he met a lot of like-minded people in animal-rescue organizations, and now he takes care of animals nearly every weekend. He had the motive already, but he needed the framework to put it to use.)

You sound like a compassionate person and I wish you well.

I feel that it's absolutely critical that we do something to stop things like this from happening. The root cause of the problem is cruelty. The reason why cruelty is so wide spread is because it propagates within our families. The reason why most people are cruel is because they were raised without valuing kindness.

You can tell people what to do, but it's hard to make them do it. In order to change this trend, we first need to start by teaching people to value logic. We need to get the school system to start teaching logic classes. After we teach logic for a while, people will start to see it's importance, and we will start creating laws that are better for our society.

I am like you. Things like that really bother me, too. The police here really follow up on tips and we also have a good animal control officer, so I am very lucky in the town I live in that when things are reported, they get taken care of. You just have to hope for the best. Hope to God that the little girl is taken care of and the guys who kicks his dog gets kicked back someday!

Most people don't pay attention because it is easier not to get involved. It is a sad state of the world today.

Everyone knows that domestic situations are the worst kind and it is not a good idea to get involved just because they can turn very violent, either for you or for the victim. If you think something is amiss try to get the proper authorities involved...that might help...just letting them know that something nto right is happening will give them a heads up...and if you can find a way to talk to the victim into getting help for themselves, then that should be good too...but be careful...

i agree i have always been a true defender of the underdog. i well not really proud to say this but when someone hurts another whether it animal or human,, i open my mouth and step in , iam stupid for putting myself on the line but , it drives me crazy to, my adolesense (sorry) and college years resulted in a lot of scuffles and arguments, now being older i will say stuff and then let the law deal with it , but i still will stand up if i feel the treatment is wrong.

Many of us love experiencing this mesianic syndrome..

Makes us feel like we are "better"..

I won't justify other people's lives, but are you so very sure that you are RIGHT?

:-)
