You need to get your mother to take him to a doctor right away. He could have a mental problem (schitzophrenia, bipolar, etc) that could easily be controlled with medication. If he's depressed he needs attention immediately before something happens to him. My prayers are going out to both you and your brother. Hugs.

Well if you know this is happening your Mom should know. If she doesn't, talk to her when he is not around and tell her what is going on. He needs help. He could have some kind of mental illness that can be treated. Being in the room all the time and being depressed is not a good thing. Ask if he wants to go play some ball with you and try to get him outdoors. You sound like a good brother to care so much about him.

Your brother is depressed, While he does have reason to be depressed (the death of a parent) he needs help..
Talk to your mother or your brothers guardian about your concerns, talk to your brother about your concerns, help him seek professional counseling to deal with the death of his father and in doing so they will also delve into his other problems.. Offer to attend counseling with him if he would like...
Make yourself bridge to a less isolated life for your brother..
Make sure to affirm you really love him and realize he is having some emotional difficulty dealing with the death of his father and you want to help him if he will allow it..

he needs to get some counseling. i have depression also and thats what is sounds like he has. sorry about his dad. maybe he is talking out to him sometimes. talk to your brother and see if he wants to get help for himself..hang out with him ,,see if he would like to go out and socialize with others. then he if he continues to stay locked up in his room,,,then professional help is the only way.

He definately needs some counseling & some meds. I suffer from depression also and I don't know where I'd be without my meds. Try Zoloft.

He is grieving for his father now. Each individual has to come to terms with grief in his/her own way.Be there for him and if he doesn't improve soon then seek help for him.
