First of all, you should list what type of scooter it is. But since it sounds like it's a hand throttle, check the linkage. Your cable probably broke inside of it's sheathing or you need to tighten the cable.

Once i was driving, and my car just kept going slower and slower. I had to push all the way down on the accelerator to keep up with traffic.
The accelerator pedal was becoming unscrewed. And as long as I had the car, every now and then I'd have to re-tighten the bolts on the pedal.

Not that this is your case, considering the nob, but you never know

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions.
Your question isn't very clear. Will the motor rev and the bike just won't move? If so, could be something wrong with the clutch. Depending on what model scooter you have, The CVT clutch might not be operating correctly, the belt could be damaged or the clutch shoes & weights might need replacing.

The end of the cable slipped off or the end broke off at one end or the other.
