no but there should be a law that makes getting married as complicated as getting divorced so more people will have to consider it more seriously before they do it.

I will have to think about that. Many people's second marriages work and they stayed married a life time. There should be a law that says you have to go to some sort of screening and take a test to get married so that you know its not all fun and games and the honey moon is not forever. Even when the baby has kept you awake all night you still have to get up and fix your man breakfast and make him a lunch and have supper on the table. When you are really sick he has to fix the meals and clean too.

No, what about the people who lose their marital spouse to death? And later on down the road, they meet someone again? They should have the right to marry them if they wish. IN ANY case, if people divorce, they should be allowed to remarry again. Marriage is personal, the government should not have the right to decide on how people should live their lives. Theyre not in everyones shoes to know what EXACTLY is going on and/or why they want to divorce or remarry! This is America.

No, that would be infringing on people's freedom. The government mainly should regulate the public realm not people's personal lives. People don't take marriage as seriously as they once did tho. Many people think "well, if it doesn't work out I can just get a divorce."

So no first divorce?

The Orthodox allow for up to 3 marriages before drawing the line (religious not civil).

No. People get divorced for many reasons and need to rebuild their lives. It is very possible to fall in love again and start over.

ideally once should be enuf--what if circumstances were fair to get divorced and don't want to be alone , or whore around, in some cases second chances of marriage would be the honorable thing to share.
