Okay, plan A failed, I called Planned Parenthood to get a checkup without my mom knowing, but I didn't know they charged $53 for a papsmear. I don't have that kind of money. But now I was thinking I could just go to my usual doctor's office and get a checkup, and pay the $15 for insurance, the thing is, I don't really know how all that works. Do I need a insurance card... it it really even possible for me to do it myself?

If your insurance card has not changed since you were at the Dr. last, you may be able to pull it off without one. The insurance company will send paper work to your parents when they pay and that may lead to questions. Do you not have an open door place in your town? If not, can you go to the closest larger area to go to a free clinic? Some clinics will let you make payments. Hope this helps. good luck

With PP, what they charge you is based on a "sliding scale" so when you go there, you're going to fill out a bunch of forms. If you are a student, it might be less. Regardless, they don't turn away anyone due to inability to pay. They just work out a payment plan for you. Your mom/dad (whomever) does not have to know that you went to PP nor does PP give out your name for anything.

(You DO NOT need insurance of any kind to see someone at PP!! Thats the good thing...you can pay in cash or with a credit card/debit card. They also might have a little box for donations...thats how they keep the costs down)

If you have questions, call your local PP and the person can answer all your questions.

Good luck

You can go to your docs with the insurance card, if they already have it on file they may not even need it, also you could check with your local health department, they will do paps, pregnancy test and STD checks, they also offer birth control.

you need the insurance card for them to verify payment info
and some sort of picture ID to verify who you are
