"Should" is a difficult word to deal with. Yes, every child ought to have supportive, loving, and teaching parents they can love. Absolutely, without question. Does every child have that? No, absolutely not. For my money, the question is unanswerable.

Love is not a feeling one can force and for different reasons not everyone is able to love.
If we cannot love our parents at least we must honour them, as is required by God in the 10 commandments.
The question of child abuse is a different matter as in theory a child is a victim in that scenario and different set of rules apply.

No. Some parents are terrible.
But most parents are doing the best they can and love their children. Those parents should be loved in return.

i think that is a hard question. i mean some parents are nice and supportive and helpful and stuff; but other parents treat their kids like they are just a piece of dirt. so for the most part yes, but in some cases no.

No, You may still love your parents but you arent obligated to keep them in your life if they are horrible people. I am not talking about parents who disagree with you, I am thinking more about the abusive ones that may neglect or abuse people.

No, I think everyone has the right to chose who to love, even if it's thier parents. Not all parents are lovable.

No - but I do think everyone should honor their parents even if the parents aren't aware of it or appreciate it - bucause when you honor your parents you are really doing something for yourself.

i used to think the answer was yes, until i met my boyfriend. his parents were both extremely abusive to him growing up, and even now when he's an adult they don't make any effort to call him, or help him out when he needs it - so i don't think he should love them, because they've never shown any love towards him.

Not if they are deadbeat douchbags.
Thought I'd say something different, didn't you? Well, I'm new testament, beh-beh; that 'honor the father/mother' stuff needed updating.
Peace out,
Jesus.

Should is the key word here. If they are abusive in either realm then I could see why someone would not.
