Hey Sofa P,

I assume you mean a line segment. You use a compass on the end points of the line segment. Then strike arcs just beyond what you know is the half way mark, the arcs should intersect at two locations. Draw a line between the 2 intersection points, which will divide the line into 2 halves. Now repeat that process for each half. You will have 4 segments of equal lenght when done.
