Yes, the prodcers said that they took a lot from that movie. They were not trying to hide it.

Ok, so what rock did you just crawl out from under. Hollywood hasn't had an original story idea in decades. Their only recourse is to remake or rehash old ideas. Why do you think movie attendance is so low, besides the high cost of seeing a new movie that you can swear you saw just 2 years before?

No. I haven't seen Cars yet. Doc Hollywood was quite good though.

Truelly, there are few perfectly original movies in hollywood.

Many are rehashes in new environments.
