I've been having painless contractions on and off for over a week now (I'm 26 weeks pregnant).

I can feel my stomach tightening up and my bump going a bit hard.

They don't hurt, in fact if I wasn't concentrating I wouldn't notice them. I guess they are "Braxton Hicks" contractions.

I've read that you get them right at the end of pregnancy though. I'd be interested to read when others got them.

Braxton Hicks contractions final for aproximately 30 seconds to 2 minutes and are additionally prevalent as prepare contractions. you should coach respiration workouts to get waiting for the genuine element. If the contractions fade, don't get properly or greater extreme, and don't have a collection time between them, then that's Braxton Hicks and you haven't any longer something to rigidity approximately.

I dont know too much about them. I have the same thing and have had the painless "contraction" like feeling in my uterus for a while and I'm only 19 weeks pregnant. I've gotten them a few times with this pregnancy. Sometimes my uterus gets really hard and defined in my abdomen. Like you mine don't hurt. I thought you were supposed to get them at the end of pregnancy as well. I guess your best bet (as well as mine) would be to talk to the dr. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I got them around 34 weeks they do feel like that but I would say you'd notice them , sometimes your stomach can feel tight when baby is active.
I found my little girl who's 20 weeks was really active a night time I could lie down & she'd instantly start kicking for england.

Good luck with your pregnancy - being a mum is the best thing in the world!

I did get them in my third trimester.. they are painless and it is your body getting ready for the real thing... and you'll know it when the real thing starts, it will be getting more regular and gradually more uncomfortable as labor continues.. you'll notice your back aching much more and more pressure in your lower abdomen. a few weeks before the onset of true labor your hips will start to really hurt.. try lying on your side with a pillow or two between your legs, but pretty much at this stage you will be uncomfortable all the time.. walk a LOT it helps, even during early true labor. and don't be aft raid to have sex. even on your due date if it comes... this would possibly stimulate the cervix and you could avoid having your membranes stripped to help the labor process begin.(at this point in your pregnancy you are tired of carrying the baby in your stomach anyway and so very ready to hold them in your arms!

with my first I got them at 21 weeks till I had him it was very frustrating. never had any with my second but with my youngest I thought it was braxton hicks till my water broke at 22 1/2 weeks. since then I have become a big advocate of if your not sure go to the doctor they are used to women overreacting and personally I would much rather have a doc laugh at me then to have another 1 lb baby. It never hurts to have it checked out if your unsure.good luck and congrats !!!

Sounds about the right time for braxtons hicks 26wks onwards , just your body practicing/preparing for labour , as the weeks go by they will become stronger , last longer and your bump will feel brick hard .

I started getting them at the end on my 6th month probably, but like you said, they were painless at that stage. They didn't start hurting until about 32 weeks.

this may sound daft, but i dont think i had any. i started getting backache on the tuesday in my lower back, it wasnt too painful, i carried on working, then on the friday the backache gradually got worse so i went to hospital to be sent home again? less than 24 hours later i gave birth on the loo, but everyone told me to expect them near the end of my pregnancy

i had a few early on like you, its nothing really to worry about your bodies just getting ready, just let your midwife know and you can both keep an eye on it, when it happens give your belly a nice rub it soon settles as sometimes its your baby having a shift about, its a bit cramped in there. good luck hun x x
