perpendicular has a negative inverse slope

y=-3/2x+b

Plug x=9, y=12 and solve for b
12=-27/2 +b
51/2=b

Parallel has the same slope

y=-3/2x+4 is the original line

2=-15/2+b

19/2=b

1.perpindicular lines are always the opposite reciprocal of the slope (m) in y=m(x)+b
-so if its perpindicular the opposite reciprocal is -3/2...
-if you need to graph it, graph the first line (y=2/3x+6) start at 9,12 and go up 2 right 3. (this is positive since it is going up)
to graph the perpindicular line start at 6 (because it is the y-intercept) and go down 2 right 3...where these points meet it should make a 90 degree angle.

2.First in this one you have to get y "by itsself" so
-subtract 3x from each side- giving you 2y= -3x+8
-then divide both sides by 2 giving you -3/2x+4
--a parallel line NEVER touches the first one. so it will have the same slope (which is the m in y=m(x)+b)
-so any line with the slope -3/2 should work.

i'm not gonna solve it for you b/c i have a problem with ppl using my work. however, i will tell u 2 things. perpendicular= slope is opposite and reciprocal. parallel= slope is equal. try learning our equation forms such as point-slope. it should be in your textbook,so hit those pages.
