(X-5) * (X+2) = x2 - 3x - 10
You multiply the first values in the parenthesis (x times x)
You then multiply the two outer values (x times 2)
You then multiply the 2 inner values (-5 times x)
(add the two previous steps together 2x+ -5x = -3x
Then multiply the second values in parenthesis (-5 times 2)
that gives you x^2 - 3x - 10
X can = 5 or -2

you gotta find 2 numbers that multiply eachother to equal -10, and add/subtract to equal -3.

this one isn't too hard! -5 * 2 = 10, and -5 + 2 = -3

so, u have to go like this:

(x - 5)(x+2) = 0

x = +5, and x = -2

because +5 - 5 = 0, and 0 * anything = 0. that is why there are two answers for x, cuz in either parenthesis, if one = 0, then multiplying it will equal 0. good luck
