If you are an RPG player, wait for the PS3, they are the console with the most RPG fans so it will more than likely have the most RPGs.
360 live is pretty cool sometimes, but if you are more into RPGs, get the PS3 for sure.

I must tell you that I love the PS2 and i have seen the specs for the PS3 and i think that it will be an outstanding system. The 360 is an ok system but the game line-up is weak and the workmanship for the 360 is crap, I've seen and read to many story's of peoples 360's red lighting and overheating to much. The 360 only sell well in the u.s.a, the Japanese don't like the 360 because of the controller being so big and the fact that it is made in the U..S.A. The PS3 is run by two cell processors so it has lots of power and the blue-ray is the next step in hd DVD technology, and the game line-up is solid with games like assassin creed and the darkness as well as the new mgs game just to name a few. And as for the Wii don't even get me started, the Wii is so cheap because it doesn't have as many options as the PS3 and it doesn't have any real power (graphics), plus the game line-up is all for kids, once you get past Zelda and Mertorid (both are good solid games) they have nothing for the hard core gamer. You might pay more for the PS3 but you get what you pay for.

I was a diehard PS and PS2 fan, especially for all of the RPGs they have. However, the PS3 is an overpriced product that is coming out with few games, none worthy of mention (yet). I am also anti-MS and it would take quite a lot for me to get the original Xbox, much less the 360, I also don't know of any really good RPGs out for 360 yet.
However, from what I have heard so far, I do recommend the Wii (even with the horrible name). Nintendo and SquareEnix have been recently working closely together, which bodes well for future RPGs for Nintendo systems. Also, if my information is correct, you will be able to download any previous Nintendo, SNES, N64, Gamecube and even some old Sega games to your Wii and play them. This means that the Wii have the largest game catalog ever, right at launch.

360 online isn't too bad. Halo2 online is pretty much awesome, DOA4 is alright...there can be some pretty bad a$$ lag but overall not bad...Out of the games I've played/seen online 360, it's pretty cool. But RPGs, squenix goes with ps3 and that's all rpg. Personally, if you want rpgs, i'd go w/ 360. but that's just me. :p
just read my thing again. i meant PS3 if you want RPGs
