You should never be embarrassed to ask or talk to your doctor about any concern you have about your body.. they can't always tell by taking your blood pressure, temperature or just looking at you if you need medical attention.. , I read a few good answers about fertility testing, but that is so expensive.. If you are ready for parenthood and either plan to do it on your own or are in a stable relationship , I say do it the old fashioned way! But seriously if you are trying constantly and even trying ovulation calculators or over the counter things like that and you aren't getting results.. then see a fertility doctor.

I once asked a doctor if i'd be able to have kids given my situation @ the time, and the he was only able to give me his "opinion" based on facts. I wasn't given a test. I was told however, that if I needed to know for sure that I'd have to go to a fertility agent, which is quite expensive. This is where u would be given all sorts of tests.

The first step would be to visit your primary care physician (regular doctor). Ask him/her if you are physically able to bear children. This shouldn't be an embarrassing question at all, since the doctor has probably heard it many times over the course of his/her career. If you just ask, point blank, the doctor will know exactly which questions to ask you in order to give you the most accurate response.

If he/she is unable to answer your question, I suggest you find a reputable OB/GYN in your area, and ask him/her. They are specialists in that field.

What's to be embarrassed about?!?

If you are female ask your gynecologist. If you are male your general practitioner will be able to steer you in the right direction.

I suggest something like:
"Hey doc, I'm worried about whether or not I can have a baby. Is there a fertility test you can give me?"

If you are too embarassed to ask this question to your doc...then you probably should reconsider having children just yet. Do you know how many people look down there while delivering a baby. It isn't pretty and half of the hospital has to come and look!!

Ask for a woman gynecologist. You might be more comfortable talking to a woman and she will have the same skills as a man in that medical department.

Ask if you are able to have babies. If you want to sound more technical, ask if you are able to concieve. There's nothing to be embarrased about. You'll have to go in to your regular gynecologist first and he/she will ask you questions and then they might send you to a fertility specialist. But check with your regular doc first because it might be something simple.

I believe a fertility test is what you are wanting. You just call the office and tell them you want one done. I hope you have a medical plan.
