I like Edmonds but hes hurting the Cards with his rally killing skills. Eckstein should not be traded who ever said he should. Cards will liely trade at the end of the year for another starter to compliement the best pitcher in the NL Chris Carpenter.

For those who think Edmonds has "gotten old quickly" or is hurting the Cards appearently don't follow the team. Edmonds is suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome which can not only end a career, but can significantly reduce your quality of life due to lingering headaches, dizziness, and other ailments. The Cards probably won't pick up Edmonds option after the '06 season, but may bring him back if he is willing to take less money ($7-9 million range) and can pass thorough neurological testing. Jimmy was starting to turn it up in July with 9HRs and 19RBIs before he started feeling the symptoms in August.
I'm really not sure where the dislike for Eckstein is coming from. Look at his stats compared to other lead off hitters. He is usually in the top 5 in pitches taken per at bat and least strikeouts which are vital for lead off hitters. He plays solid defense (6 errors in '06) and runs the bases well. He plays for the love of the game and simply for the all mighty dollar. He also does quite a bit of charity work within the city as well as raise awareness for kidney disease which almost all members of his family suffer from. I'll admit I wasn't too keen on Eckstein at first especially after Renteria left, but Eck has proven himself over and over again in clutch situations.
To the guy who suggest the Cards trade Mulder -- Mulder is a free agent after this season, so that is really not an issue.

Edmonds is a classy player and the Cardinals should treat him with the upmost respect. He hasn't done anything wrong in his career in St. Louis and was a defensive mastermind. He should be given a good far well by the fans of St. Louis if they are classy fans.

Edmonds has been a blue chip player his entire career. There are certain players you treat with respect. Edmonds is one of them.

Edmonds has gotten old quickly, but he is still a serviceable player.
Eckstein should go. He is a borderline major league player.

Thats a good question. I am hoping they will make a big trade involving him, Mulder and Eckstein for another superstar. Sounds like a good trade, eh?
Don't get me wrong I love all those guys, but something has to be done.
