Can i treat my tank for lice and how successful is treatment. I bought 2 fish last week and noticed tonight disc shaped things that were moving, they were quite big so could they have been there in the pet shop tank but smaller that i didnt notice it. Is there a treatment that will kill them so they drop off the fish as some are so small i can hardly see them. More importantly will the fish be ok?

You need to go to the pet store or walmart and buy the tablets to put in your tank. Fallow the directions on the back. I think you have to raise the temp of the tank and take the carbon out of your filter while you are treating. It is very successfull if you catch and treat it soon enough. Also when you buy the medicine there is this aloe stuff you can buy to help heal your fish as well. Ask the person at the pet store.

ther is a preparation you can buy from your local pet shop. it will come with a booklet that shows how much medicine to use to a particular tank size, just tel the pet shop that the fish have lice, describe what it looks like and also what type of fish they are as some fish can not tolerate certain ingrediants in the medicine. any fish infestation makes a fish unhappy and then their immunity drops. they should be ok. i have a tropi 4ft tank and a 5ft cold water tank.
