I'm having trouble with outrageously high ping when I play Battlefield 2 online. It goes anywhere from 600 to 1050 (yes, that's right)! Is there anyway I can do some tweaking and get the ping lowered? It may be my ISP because I'm on satellite interent, I don't know. Just any information about this would be helpful really.

Yea I had the same problem try lowering your settings in the game

and there is some thing u can type in console that can help it but I can't remember what it is

I think it is cg_setping "0" or "1" not sure though if that sets your ping higher then it is "999" I know I am close but would check it out more before trying it.

http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe

That program may help a bit..

Here's the tutorial/guide for TCPOptimizer http://www.speedguide.net/tcpoptimizer.php

Satellite internet tends to have higher latency (price of high bandwith on some transmission mediums) than cable which in turn has a higher latency than DSL.

Am currently looking for BF 2 Servers that don't have ping filters.

Are you running it through a router? If you are running it through a router then you might want to upgrade your firmware even if it is brand new out of the box. Sometimes they have been sitting on the shelves a while and even though it is new to you doesn't mean it has the latest updates. You might also want to check with EA Games to see if there are any patches that might be available.
