Depends on the make of the barrel saddle as well. Not all barrel saddles look a like.
My barrel saddle has a deeper seat, with stirrups flaps that push my legs more forward, thicker pomel with narrower horn than the Western Pleasure saddle.
My barrel is more rounded than the typical Western Saddle that is more square like form. I do not have a back cinch and my bareback pad is rounded design to fit my saddle and horse.
What I would recommend is you going online to statelinetack.com and other related tack store shops by googling to look at pictures of the differences.

The difference between a barrel saddle and western saddle is:
the barrel saddle has a deeper seat, higher cantle and more pronounced swells to assist you in keeping your butt in the saddle.

Weight, barrel saddles are lighter, also, barrel saddles have " free swinging" stirrups. These allow your legs to move easier, alongwith most of the othe traits listed.
